Notice for the 10th Shenzhen Copyright Gold Award Selection Activity

**Activity Plan**

Under the support and guidance of the Shenzhen Market Supervision and Administration Bureau (Shenzhen Intellectual Property Office) and relevant departments, the 10th Shenzhen Copyright Gold Award selection activity, jointly organized by the Shenzhen Copyright Association, Shenzhen Broadcasting Film and Television Group, and Shenzhen Press Group, will be launched on December 30, 2021. The deadline for submissions is February 28, 2022, with expert reviews taking place in early March 2022 and the award ceremony scheduled for mid-to-late April 2022. This initiative aims to recognize enterprises and advanced workers with outstanding achievements in copyright creation, utilization, protection, and management in 2021.

**I. Purpose of the Activity**

Copyright is one of the three pillars of intellectual property. Compared to industrial property rights such as patents and trademarks, copyright represents the value realization of cultural, scientific, and creative achievements. It not only has unique social attributes but also significant economic attributes. The establishment of the Copyright Gold Award recognition mechanism aims to, on one hand, encourage creation and promote the continuous emergence of outstanding cultural, scientific, and creative achievements. On the other hand, it seeks to promote copyright utilization and protection, fostering innovation and development in related industries such as news publishing, broadcasting and film, literature and art, creative design, and animation and games. This will drive the balanced development of the city's soft and hard power, enhance copyright awareness in Shenzhen's cultural and creative industries year by year, and play a positive role in promoting an innovative, copyright-respecting, and copyright-protecting legal environment. The Shenzhen Copyright Gold Award is the only important copyright-related award activity in Shenzhen. It aims to uncover typical cases of transforming works into products and small ideas into big markets, leading the way in improving design innovation awareness and promoting high-quality development of the copyright industry.

**II. Award Categories**

The awards include 10 "Copyright Work Gold Awards," 5 "Copyright Utilization Gold Awards," 5 "Copyright Protection Gold Awards," 5 "Outstanding Copyright Manager Awards," and 2 "Annual Copyright Registration Leading Awards," totaling 27 awards across five categories.

**III. Selection Scope**

The "Copyright Work Gold Award," "Copyright Utilization Gold Award," "Copyright Protection Gold Award," "Outstanding Copyright Manager Award," and "Annual Copyright Registration Leading Award" are primarily targeted at enterprises, institutions, and individuals in Shenzhen. The "Work Award" requires the author to provide the work, such as (1) literary works: literary pieces, film and television screenplays; (2) musical works; (3) animation works: animation and comic designs, game works; (4) applied art works: industrial design, graphic design, and jewelry and fashion design; (5) film and television works; (6) creative design: advertising creativity, marketing posters, illustrations). Other awards require a textual and graphical introduction and a recommendation form.

**IV. Recommendation Criteria**

1. **Copyright Work Gold Award (10 winners)**

   - Original works with innovative creation methods and content forms, positive and uplifting ideological content, wide dissemination, high social recognition, significant economic and social benefits, and a certain market share.
   - Applicants should submit relevant ownership certificates for the work, such as copyright registration certificates, manuscripts or originals related to copyright, legal publications, copyright filing electronic certificates, etc. For film and music works, a CD or USB drive (non-returnable) should be submitted.

2. **Copyright Utilization Gold Award (5 winners)**

   - Enterprises, institutions, and individuals that actively utilize copyright resources, promote the distribution and dissemination of copyright works through various means, transform copyright resources into social wealth, realize the market value of copyright works, contribute to the formation of the copyright industry chain, and generate considerable economic and social benefits. (For film and music works, a CD or USB drive (non-returnable) should be submitted.)

3. **Copyright Protection Gold Award (5 winners)**

   - Units or individuals with the capability, action, and innovative spirit in copyright protection, who have typical cases that purify the copyright market environment, regulate market order, and have a significant impact in the copyright and judicial fields, attracting widespread social attention and positive feedback.

4. **Outstanding Copyright Manager Award (5 winners)**

   - Individuals who have been engaged in copyright work for more than two years and have achieved outstanding results in copyright registration, authorization, and system building within enterprises.

5. **Annual Copyright Registration Leading Award (2 winners)**

   - In the current year, those with a leading number of original copyright work registrations in the industry, who have significantly promoted the protection and utilization of enterprise copyrights and are representative.

**V. Recommendation Methods**

Participants can self-recommend/apply or be recommended by industry organizations and relevant institutions. After receiving the application materials, the Secretariat of the Shenzhen Copyright Association will organize relevant industry experts for on-site reviews.

**VI. Material Submission**

Organizations and recommending units may submit one copy of the relevant selection materials in both paper (bound) and electronic formats, along with a PPT introduction, to the Secretariat of the Copyright Association before February 28, 2022.
